Xtreme Sledding!

Alright so it's late Friday night, and passed curfew so naturally I'm bored at home looking for something other to do than go to bed, which, yes, would be the rational thing to do. Too bad that's left me. So a couple of weeks ago, due to a stroke of genius, we had a showdown with Rock Canyon Park, north of the temple in Provo. After rounding up the troops (all my brothers and sisters from the BYU 165th Ward, i.e. Liberty Square East side) and arming them with the slickest of sleds, we boogied it up to the ice bowl. After taking a few glamor shots we decided to get down to the nitty gritty. One of the most legitimate of sources known to me, my roommate Ryan Stewart, reported the following:

"Have you ever been sledding on pure ice... i have! oh and was it fun! let me just replay some of the amazing highlights!

1. a overused iced over sledding hill
2. 4 girls, 1 sled, a huge jump and about 5 feet of air!
3. brandon screaming LOOKOUT before hitting 3 random kids at the bottom of the hill.
4. our "see who can sled the farthest" contest especially when brandon dived onto his sled after sprinting 20 feet and aim himself at the biggest ice jump on the hill.
5. jeff's last run of the day (he came back to the car with a bloody fat lip)" (emphasis by author)

Injury Report: (with explanation in parenthesis)
Sara Callan- bruised buttocks (see Stewart, #2), out 2-3 business days
Brandon Snow- bruised ego and shoulder (lost to Stew in the distance competition, and almost literally crashed and burned in the attempt to outdo him, see Stewart #4), will remain bruised until a run of equal or greater distance is reached
Jeff Hanson- fat/bloody lip (couldn't help but go out with a bang), due to recent events, we're pretty sure that lip is undergoing "treatment" (wink wink) and should be just fine.
3 random more than likely freshman- status unknown (see Stewart #3), required treatment: ummm, whatever they do to make bowling pins feel better, let's just say they won't be back anytime soon!

So that basically covers the gist of the expedition. Stay tuned for further extravaganzas on ice!

"Buy a Stranger a Coke"

So this past Wednesday I received an interesting assignment in my Management Communications class. The assignment was to "buy a stranger a coke" and then write about. So here I am writing about it. For some reason the first idea that managed it's way into my head was to buy a bum something. I'm not sure why but the idea didn't leave and I felt like that was a good way to go. After procrastinating until Saturday night I finally decided to get up and going and to get itdone. My first challenge was to find a homeless guy. I'd never hung out with or really noticed homeless guys much, so this proved to be my first challenge. I started to doubt believing it might just be easier to cop out and do something a little different. Despite my lack of faith, I headed over to the neighbors' for advice. I was informed that down on Center St. in Provo I could find plenty of bums, but to be careful. I admit I was a bit skeptical/nervous about the idea of buying a bum a coke beforehand and my fear increased. Faltering again I almost didn't make it out to get the job done. In the end I just decided to take off. My first stop came at 7 eleven. After coming to my senses I realized that wasn't the place I wanted to go if I wanted to go cheap. I ended up taking off to Smith's for my 2 liter bottle of Coke for only 95 cents. I figured that would go a lot further. By this time it was only getting darker and my nervousness only increasing. I was being a true wimp. At that point I made my 6 foot 1 inch 230 pound "little brother" come with me for a little moral support. Well, actually for some intimidation and protection to be completely honest. After retrieving him from heritage halls and tearing him away from his female friends we set course for Center St. down University Avenue. As I doubted the odds of finding a bum out and about were very good, lo and behold we found our man before even making our way downtown. While passing through the light at 500 N and University, I spotted a homeless man on foot making his way east across University Avenue in the direction of the library. We performed a quick u-turn and turned off the avenue before parking where we could get out and make the pursuit on foot. Leaving valuables in the car we took off and brought the coke to the homeless man. We told him we saw him and thought he might enjoy a coke. With a look of surprise he accepted with a huge appreciate smile, we knew we had made his night. I realized a coke may not have been the most nutritious thing we could have provided but that it would be enjoyable nonetheless. To explain further, I enjoy fulfilling assignments to the letter. To make a long story short we felt awesome, with that warm fuzzy feel good feeling, and wished him good luck, and then went on our way. With our mission accomplished and feeling good we headed back.

Mud Football

Alright so I figured I would catch up on the big events from last semester, which was a blast by the way! So I'd have to say by far the biggest was MUD FOOTBALL! So a while back Brett came up with the idea of going down to his family's farm, flooding the field, and then to have a big muddy football game down there. Props for the idea Brett! So we basically turned it into an unofficial ward event, rounded everybody up and headed down to the farm one sunny Saturday morning. At first we were worried there wasn't going to be enough mud to go around...(by looking at the pictures that obviously wasn't the case) After stripping down a bit and going at it for a while the game turned into a big throw down match, like those fights you remember from Junior High (two people in the middle with everybody else egging them on). By the time things were done we were mudded to the max and had to wash off in the pump. It was FREEZING cold water! It wasn't toO easy to wash off either, I had dirt in my ears for about the next week, even after a dozen Q-tips. Still hasn't come out of the clothes though... or the car...
Hey friends and family!
So yes this is still Brandon and yes I am blogging believe it or not. I never thought I'd see the day, but it has come. So this new project has been highly inspired by my new MCom class, apparently we're suppose to work on our communication/writing or something so...basically this is homework. Lol, I guess it could be worse. So buckle up because here it goes!
